A logging town offering a wealth of activities and events for travelers to take part in, Berlin is situated on the northern tip of New Hampshire. Incorporated in 1829, several of the city’s cultural attractions, such as the Northern Forest Heritage Park, reflect its close relationship with the nearby White Mountain National Forest. The park features several restored buildings that were once integral to the area's foresting industry and the growth of Berlin. In September the park becomes home to the annual Lumberjack Festival. This one-day event is full of competitions such as logrolling and chopping challenges, as well as boat tours and historical exhibits. History buffs may also want to visit the Moffett House Museum, which contains a wealth of Berlin-centric military memorabilia and archival material available to view, free of charge. After spending a day soaking up this city’s rich history, visitors can take in some culture by attending a play produced by the St. Kieran Community Center for the Arts.
