Lincoln is a popular tourist destination found on the west side of New Hampshire in Grafton County. Originally settled by residents of Connecticut, Lincoln has a wealth of attractions and activities for guests to discover. Regardless of the time of year, outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy a number of sights found in and around Lincoln. No visit to the town is complete without visiting the White Mountain National Forest. This federally protected site provides residents and guests with innumerable opportunities for hiking, mountain-biking and camping, as well as breathtaking views of natural attractions such as Mount Liberty and the Flume, a large gorge found at the base of the mountain. In the winter months, skiers and snowboarders may wish to visit the Loon Mountain Ski Resort, which features over 300 acres (120 ha) of trails to traverse. The ski resort is also home to the New Hampshire Highland Games. Held every September, this fair features a wide array of events such as musical performances, dance recitals, and the ever-popular caber toss competition.
